Computing Center, Academia Sinica

Overview

The Computing Center provides following two types of webpage services:

Personal webpage service
- When fellow workers apply for an email service account, they will acquire their personal webpage service at the same time. Under their own accounts, fellow workers can construct their own personal static webpage (dynamic web pages currently aren't provided).
- Each account will have 500MB of disk space in the address http://idv.sinica.edu.tw/username, in which "username" is the user's email account. For example, if the user's email account is abc@gate.sinica.edu.tw, the user's personal webpage will be http://idv.sinica.edu.tw/abc.
Project webpage service
- Service targets: Units of Academia Sinica, such as administration, technology and research units, that require a webpage for official business.
- Application qualifications: Managers or implementation personnel of the affair/project applying for this service.

Both static (Webpage files coded using HTML) and dynamic (Users can interact with the server and enter data to update or create data on the server, which will be reflected on the user-end) webpage services are provided.
PHP programming language and MySQL database services are provided.
Anyone who applies for this project service should also apply for the virtual host service (For details, please refer to DNS Service).
- The address is http://projname.sinica.edu.tw (Academia Sinica level projects)
- Or http://projname.institutename.sinica.edu.tw (Institute or center level projects)
  in which "projname" is the name of the project account applied for and "institutename" is the name of the unit.

Personal webpage service: After fellow workers submit their account application, they will have acquired this service with no need for any further applications.
When applying for the project webpage service, specify your personal information and the English and Chinese project names.

Personal webpage service:
SSH secure remote connection protocol is provided, however, remote connection protocols ftp and telnet aren't provided. For file transfer, download applications that support secure protocols such as Winscp or Filezilla. Please transfer the edited webpage to the public_html folder of the account to which it belongs. The address of a personal webpage is http://idv.sinica.edu.tw/username, in which "username" is the account name that was applied for.
Project webpage service: same as the personal webpage service.
