The Computing Center is an administrative unit under the Central Administration Office. Dr. Hsu Tsan-sheng, Research Fellow of Institute of Information Science, currently acts as director of the Computing Center, which consists of 3 divisions (Promotion, Development and System Operation) and 4 teams. Please refer to the organization chart for individual responsibilities.
Responsibilities of the Divisions and Teams are as follows:
- Promotion Division
Responsible for establishment and maintenance of the websites of the Academia Sinica and the Computing Center, promotion of information-related training, data processing, editing and publication of electronic communiqu. - Development Division
Responsible for planning and establishment of Academia Sinica's administrative computing, academic research databank, library automation and metadata services. Undertaking information software and equipment procurement over published amount for (responsible) units of Academia Sinica. - System Operation Division
Responsible for management of Academia Sinica's public computer mainframe system, information communication network and mass storage system; management of PC's of Central Administration Office; procurement and management of Academia Sinica's common PC software licenses. Undertaking information hardware and equipment procurement over published amount for (responsible) units of Academia Sinica. - High Performance Computing (HPC) Team
Responsible for providing consultation services for establishment of high-performance computing facilities of Academia Sinica, and maintenance services for public high-performance computing environment. - Information Security(InfoSec) Team
Responsible for Academia Sinica's information security services, including planning of comprehensive information security structure, establishment of comprehensive information security protection and audit system, and implementation of internal information security notification procedure. - Digital Media Team
Responsible for Academia Sinica's multimedia design services. - Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Team
Responsible for basic software/hardware application environment pertinent to Academia Sinica's geographic information systems, provision of consultation services concerning map compilation and GIS technology, provision of assistance for research data organization and outcome presentation.
